Freezing rain to hit Chicago area Sunday night

Snow and ice pellets are expected to arrive after midnight Monday, and will probably change into freezing rain Tuesday as milder air pays a brief visit.

"Snow changing to a wintry mix across the interior Tuesday PM, rain along the coast early Wednesday AM", the National Weather Service said on Facebook Sunday afternoon.

Unfortunately for those of us that have had enough of Old Man Winter, this may not be our only weather headache this week as yet another storm could provide additional snowfall by late Thursday into early Friday.

The snow is expected to end by Tuesday morning, but the wind will pick up, so blowing snow may be an issue.

Meanwhile on Sunday, snow flew across much of the Northland, with the National Weather Service office in Duluth recording 2 inches by 6 p.m. This will be an event that will impact commute times and travel for children getting home from school, rush hour traffic getting home from work, and 2nd and 3rd-shifters going to and from work Tuesday night into Wednesday.

How to watch the Grammys
Current nominees Chloe x Halle, Lady Gaga , Mark Ronson, and Travis Scott are set to perform on Music's Biggest Night. Grammy winners Yolanda Adams, Fantasia and past Grammy nominee Andra Day will honor the legendary Aretha Franklin .

The snow is expected to taper off to flurries on Wednesday.

We're expecting at least an inch of snow overnight before the precipitation freezes up.

Storms have delivered more snow to Seattle in the first days of February than it usually gets in a year, The Seattle Times reported. Snowfall amounts will range from an inch to 3 inches (2.5 centimeters to 7.6 centimeters) through Sunday night.

And what if this storm's a dud?

The wind could make the messy weather even more hazardous. Rain and Snow are possible by Friday.
