Chelsea Clinton Rebukes Ilhan Omar Over 'Anti-Semitic Tropes'

Greenwald accused McCarthy of targeting Omar and Tlaib for their numerous criticisms of Israel, to which Omar chimed in "It's all about the Benjamins, baby", quoting a 1997 rap song by Puff Daddy.

Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, on Monday added his name to the list of House Democrats criticizing freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for what he said was her trafficking in "old anti-Semitic tropes about Jews and money". "She might as well call us hooked-nosed".

Dan Shapiro, who served as the USA ambassador to Israel during most of President Barack Obama's presidency (2011-2017), sent out a lengthy tweet thread Monday morning condemning Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for anti-Semitic tweets the freshmen congresswoman sent out Sunday night.

She later named AIPAC as the organization paying American politicians to be pro-Israel.

"We urge you to join us in calling on each member of our Caucus to unite against anti-Semitism and hateful tropes and stereotypes", Gottheimer and Luria told Pelosi. He wrote that he's "one of those American Jews who opposes the occupation, laments Israel's anti-democratic drift, and doesn't regard the country as especially central to my Jewish identity". "If they do not take action I think you'll see action from myself", McCarthy told reporters, referring to disciplinary action he wanted Democratic leaders to take against the congresswomen. "Is she also Islamophobic for attacking Saudi's influence on American politics in exactly the same way?"

Canada adds 66,800 jobs in January, unemployment rate rises
More young Canadians, between the ages of 15 and 24 years old, found work last month as youth employment gained 52,800 positions. The central bank stayed on the sidelines last month after five hikes since July 2017, and most analysts expect no action.

"OF COURSE it's possible to critique AIPAC et al in a non-anti-Semitic way", Ungar-Sargon wrote.

Omar had initially said she didn't understand why American Jews would be offended by the statement, which critics argued evoked ugly Nazi conspiracies about Jewish people's power to "hypnotize" the world.

Omar made no apologies Sunday night, but she did accept an invitation from Chelsea Clinton, one of her critics, to talk about anti-Semitism.

"I know Congresswoman Omar, I don't believe that she would harbor those sorts of views as they've been characterized", he continued.

He went on to emphasize in a further tweet that now she will have no influence in her party on the issue, but that it could have been different "Had she come to DC, shown sympathy and empathy for Israelis and Palestinians, learned to assign responsibility in appropriate measure to both sides, considered the totality of United States interests in the region, maybe taken a trip to learn".
