Trump Receives Standing Ovation At National Prayer Breakfast For Defending Pro-Life Values

President Donald Trump speaks during the National Prayer Breakfast, Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019, in Washington.

"As president, I will always cherish, honor and protect the believers who uplift our communities and sustain our nation to ensure that people of faith can always contribute to our society", Trump said.

As for Mills, he told People that he also thought Pelosi's clap was genuine, but she was trying to get Trump to notice her and give him a subtle message that he bears the responsibility of bringing the country together.

The president has relied on religious conservatives, particularly evangelical Christians, for much of his base.

In that speech, Trump incorrectly claimed that Gov. Ralph Northam, D-Va., when discussing late-term abortions in which the infant is severely deformed or unable to survive after birth, had said "he would execute a baby after birth".

"I had a unique angle and was able to put Speaker Pelosi right over the president's shoulder", he said.

President Trump reaffirmed the sanctity of every human life and encouraged Americans to pray for the pursuit of justice during the National Prayer Breakfast Thursday (Feb. 7).

Nancy Pelosi Applauding Donald Trump Becomes Hit Meme On Twitter

Trump avoided partisan digs in his remarks to the breakfast, apparently in deference to its nonpartisan character, focusing instead on the role religion plays in public life.

Nancy Pelosi suggested in a new interview that Republican leaders in Congress would not support another partial government shutdown over border security funding demanded by US President Donald Trump.

Saying people of faith were behind numerous nation's greatest accomplishments, he included among those achievements the "abolition of civil rights".

Every commander in chief since President Dwight Eisenhower has attended the breakfast, which began in 1953.

Gary Haugen, of the International Justice Mission, spoke before Trump and talked at length about what he described as a "fracturing of the American family".

Curry, who achieved fame for his love-focused sermon at Prince Harry's royal wedding in 2018, read from 1 Corinthians 13 during the breakfast.

"We should not grow tired in doing the good we know to do, because in the end an all-good and almighty God has the final say", he said.
