Jake Patterson waives preliminary hearing in Jayme Closs case

Jake Patterson, 21, handcuffed and wearing an orange jumpsuit, appeared in Barron County Circuit Court on Wednesday. Investigators believe Patterson hid Jayme in a remote cabin in Gordon, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) north of Barron, before she escaped and got help from a woman walking her dog.

Jake Patterson, the Wisconsin man accused of kidnapping Jayme Closs and killing her parents, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning during his second court appearance.

Patterson is charged with two counts of Class A Felony 1st Degree Intentional Homicide, Class C Felony Kidnapping, and Class E Felony Armed Burglary.

This week, the Closs family released a picture of Jayme enjoying a steak dinner with her grandfather. His father responded, "I love you".

Jayme was held captive for 88 days before she managed to escape last month.

Nelson says a defendant can always waive his right to a preliminary hearing and it wouldn't surprise him if Patterson chose to go that route on Wednesday given the way the case appears to be stacked against him from the outset.

And close friend of the Closs family, Michelle Saffert, said she now feels like Jayme is healing.

In order to get better compensation for Foles, the team decided it was worth picking up his $20 million option. There's just no way they're keeping Carson Wentz and then paying Nick Foles $25 million to ride the bench.

"I have no doubt that she's going to make it".

Police say, in October, he kidnapped the 13-year-old girl and killed her parents in front of her at their home in Barron, Wisconsin. The strong little fighter she is'.

He faced a judge in person for the first time, and the judge scheduled an arraignment for March 27.

"I just wish that I had you home, I'd take you out for a steak if I had you home, she likes steak", said Jayme's grandpa Robert Naiberg in December 2018.

A criminal complaint filed earlier this month details Patterson's confession of killing James and Denise Closs and kidnapping Jayme. He then taped Jayme's mouth, hands and ankles before pulling her out of the bathtub and shooting her mother in the head, the complaint said.

Patterson also said that he did not know Jayme or her parents and that he chose her after seeing her exiting a school bus, according to the criminal complaint.

When he left or had friends over, he sealed her under the bed with tote boxes and weights so she couldn't crawl out, sometimes for hours, according to the complaint.
