WhatsApp for iOS adds Screen Lock feature

WhatsApp for iOS adds Screen Lock feature

In there, you have the option to turn on Face ID or Touch ID for the app. To access the new settings, you'll have to go to Settings, then Account, followed by Privacy. In the future, Facebook plans to create a unified messaging system that would work across Messenger, WhatsApp, and Instagram, complete with end-to-end encryption. Once Screen Lock is enabled, every time you open WhatsApp, the app will require Face ID or Touch ID to unlock, otherwise, you won't be able to use. You can't lock select chats within the app yet but even an app-wide lock method is a useful feature.

According to the description, you can still reply to messages from notifications and you can also answer incoming calls while WhatsApp is locked. Since iOS itself locks a native app locking ability, it is up to developers to add this feature to their apps.

A new version of WhatsApp for iOS is now rolling out bringing a new and somewhat anticipated authentication feature. As previously reported, as part of the feature, users will need to unlock the app by unlocking it so that people can't snoop in on their conversations.
