Punxsutawney Phil Predicts

"... Your cheers at The Knob really give me a thrill and everyone singing to the world "Phil, Phil, Phil" but predicting the weather, that's my song".

If Phil sees his shadow, he'll run back into the burrow, meaning we'll have six more weeks of winter. Should he not see his shadow, we will have an early spring. Either way, the official first day of spring is Wednesday, March 20.

Then you'll be happy to know that the weather-predicting groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil has made his prediction for 2019, and the outlook is not so grim.

The magical elixir also changes his appearance, which explains why Phil may be grey one year and a youthful brown the next. Alternately, a cloudy day meant an early spring.

Spring is coming early in the United States, a groundhog has predicted.

Real Madrid to face Valencia, Barcelona or Betis in the semi-finals
Barcelona face Valencia at home on Saturday at Lionel Messi looks to score for his eighth league fixture in a row. Real Betis will play Valencia in the other semi-final.

The groundhog has seen his shadow 104 times and has not only 18 times in the past between 1887 and 2018.

I won't be holding my breath, it is a groundhog after all and we're in Canada in February, so we all know the winter is nowhere near done. Punxsutawney is located in Western Pennsylvania, about 80 miles north-east of Pittsburgh.

Gentlemen in top hats form the inner circle and look after Phil and their prediction was somewhat a surprise as in past years they have often announced six more weeks of winter. So, the legend goes, Punxsutawney Phil was named after King Phillip.

According to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club traces the introduction of the animal to Germany, where people initially using hedgehogs as the hibernating mammal of choice.
