Boston snow maps for Tuesday, January 29, 2019

Lows of minus 15 to minus 20 degrees and highs of minus 5 to minus 10 are forecast Wednesday for Fort Wayne. Models just now are getting a good grasp on this system and unfortunately, it means lower totals for most in snow. All Georgia state offices will be closed Tuesday and several precautionary measures are taking effect.

Snow is likely during the Tuesday evening commute for the greater Baltimore and Washington area.

The jet stream will retreat northward toward the Canadian border this weekend, allowing milder temperatures to return to areas dealing with the bitter cold this week.

Temperatures will be as many as 20 degrees below average in parts of the Upper Great Lakes region and Upper Mississippi Valley, according to the National Weather Service.

It added: "From Tuesday through Thursday, expect frigid temperatures and bitterly cold wind chills, likely leading to widespread record lows and low maximum temperatures".

A risky cold-air outbreak will reach the Midwest and Great Lakes on Tuesday and is expected to last multiple days with the potential to break dozens of records.

Forgotten man to return for Hammers in Wimbledon cup clash
It's a great win - look at the fans. "Step by step, every week, every month we are seeing some improvement and that's good". West Ham announced the news nearly immediately after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Wimbledon.

Governor J.B. Pritzker said wind chill could drive temperatures to -55 degrees Fahrenheit in northern IL on Tuesday evening, capable of causing frostbite in a matter of minutes. But wind chills could dip to 55 degrees below zero (negative 48.3 degrees Celsius).

Forecasters warn that it only takes a few minutes of exposure to this kind of unsafe cold for life-threatening frostbite and hypothermia to set in. Wind chills will run -30 to -50 out that way by Wednesday into Thursday AM. Thursday's record low of -12 degrees could fall as well.

Hundreds of flights were canceled at two airports in Chicago, a major regional hub and America's third city, in neighboring IL.

Biting winds will make it feel even colder than what the mercury reads Wednesday through Friday, bringing AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures below the actual temperature.

The winter storm has started to move into our area. Minutes after a plow passed, roads were once again becoming snow covered, according to the Department of Public Works.

The National Weather Service in Des Moines, Iowa issued a chilling warning to residents (no pun intended) that the weather will be "the coldest air many of us will have ever experienced" and for people to "avoid taking deep breaths, and minimize talking", while outdoors.
