Parts of the state in wind chill advisories, warnings through noon Sunday

Sunday will be sunny early in the morning then a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of flurries late in the morning and in the afternoon.

That's right, Environment Canada has issued alerts of some kind for all 61 regions that comprise both Northern and Southern Ontario.

The OPP and Peel Regional Police are warning drivers of slippery roads and highways across Southern Ontario with several collisions reported already as of 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The extreme cold warning is in addition to Thursday's special weather statement, calling for snow, high winds and cold temperature this weekend, which is still in effect. Driving conditions are hazardous.

The temperature Saturday morning plummeted to -24 C, though it felt in the minus-30s with the wind chill.

Wind becoming northwest at 20 km/h, gusting to 40.

Wind gusts between 30 and 35 miles per hour were expected into Sunday morning near Lake Michigan, resulting in snow drifting into open areas, the weather service said.

"Wind chill values will moderate above the warning criteria of minus 30 later on Monday, but are still forecast to be near minus 25", added the Environment Canada warning.
