Trump Waves Off Ocasio-Cortez Question: ‘Who Cares? Geez’

On his way to New Orleans on Monday, Trump was asked about Ocasio-Cortez's comment calling him a racist on national TV.

Ever since he first announced his 2016 presidential campaign in June 2015 and spoke of the dangers of illegal immigration, Trump's critics have accused him of being a racist or of exhibiting racist behavior.

'Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez called you a racist, ' the journalist yelled over the hum of Marine One on the South Lawn.

On Thursday, the former senator of CT said Ocasio-Cortez was too "different" and "controversial" for the party, which he says has shifted to the center of the political spectrum.

"Who cares?" the president responded immediately, making a dismissive gesture.

Prompted with a question from Anderson Cooper about whether she believes Trump is a racist, she didn't skip a beat: 'Yeah.

The president waved his hand dismissively, saying, "Who cares? I understand guys like this like the back of my hand", the 29-year-old New York Democrat tweeted. The president certainly didn't invent racism.

Former Sen. Joe Lieberman says, "She just takes us back to a big-spending, big-taxing Democratic party".

Ocasio-Cortez then dug a little deeper in a follow-up tweet, mentioning her 70 percent tax rate plan while going after Trump's suspect fortune and unreleased tax returns.

The a 29-year-old freshman Demorcatic lawmaker from NY self-identifies as an economic socialist.

Since her victory, Ocasio-Cortez has made headlines with a slew of progressive positions, including calling for increased taxes on the wealthiest Americans and a "green new deal" to address climate change.
