GAME OF THRONES Final Season Premiere Date and Teaser Have Arrived

Game of Thrones season 8 will premiere April 14, HBO announced in the first teaser released Sunday.

The final season of Game of Thrones will screen in New Zealand at the same time it screens in the US.

Check it out below...

The official Game of Thrones Twitter account is where the news broke on when fans can expect the announcement. Jon Snow actor Kit Harington previously revealed to GQ that the final season was "designed to break" the cast. They can be seen hearing the voices of their dead family members Ned and Catelyn Stark as well as Lyanna Stark, who is Jon's mother that he never knew. Jon Snow, Sansa Stark and Arya Stark not only confront their legacy and themselves in statue form, but the threat of winter that has been on the horizon for years now.

The film is directed by debutant Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under his banner RSVP Movies. The film opened on a great and was given thumbs-up by the critics and audience.

Probably one of the highlights of the teaser was when both Jon and Arya draw their swords and went forward to protect Sansa. The crypt teaser begins with heavy overtures of Jon's true Targaryen parentage as he walks past Lyanna Stark's crypt. The only thing in the army's way was The Wall, which the reanimated dragon burned down, giving the White Walkers an opening to invade.

The three Stark children and the viewers are left SHOOK when they see new statues in the crypt.

Fans are understandably curious about this latest development and have already (of course) got a theory about what it could mean. In the meantime, you can read INSIDER's key predictions for the final season here.

On a completely different note: WE CANNOT WAIT FOR APRIL 14!

Season 7 ended with Jon finally crossing paths with his aunt, Daenerys Targaryen.
