Behold, the rather lovely Lexus LC Convertible

Lexus has provided the strongest hint yet that a convertible version of its stunning LC coupe is in the pipeline with the reveal of the LC Convertible concept. Which no doubt means when a production version lands, it'll be Lexus's most expensive, least attainable vehicle.

The Lexus LC 500 is an expensive coupe that forgot to catch the commoditisation train, and even if it took some getting used to we can see the point - it's just different enough to be special amidst all the template luxury cars coming out of Germany these days. Slicing off the top, forces Lexus' designers to create a new rear deck for the machine.

The dynamic shape evolved naturally from the original LC design, yet stands on its own with a unique identity. They're still present, too, Lexus insisting that the LC Convertible Concept could still accommodate four. "It blends uniquely Japanese aesthetics with the promise of sensory satisfaction that only a convertible can provide".

The interior, incidentally, is also the same as the closed-source version of LC, it is true for the concept chose black and white leather trim with yellow stitching. The LC wouldn't be the first convertible to lose its elegance as soon as it raised the lid. Yes, there's every chance this model will make it through to production.

Kuchar extends lead at Sony Open
Shot of the day: Kuchar had already moved back in front, but it was the birdie on No. 15 that really put the trophy within reach. Biggest disappointment: It was a rough afternoon for Keith Mitchell, who turned a spot in the final group into a tie for 16th.

A few other changes have been made to glitz it up for show auto duty - it now sits on larger 22-inch two-tone alloy wheels, and the interior sees the addition of white leather upholstery with yellow stitching for a bit of added pop.

The short overhangs, enormous 22-inch wheels and wide stance remind the public of the performance potential of this concept auto.

Lexus describes it as its "aspirational, halo vehicle". Done properly, though, this LC could more than compensate.
