"It was always going to be hard but we put a strong fightback and took the team to 254", Rohit added.

"By the time you get to the batter, it's already 5-7 seconds over, so you have to make that quick decision". Behrendorff pinned Dhawan lbw with his sixth delivery and Richardson beat Ambati Rayudu for pace having had a touch of fortune when Kohli clipped to square leg. "Unfortunately, we couldn't go as per our plans", Rohit said in the video.

"We are always looking to use as much of the wicket and ball to our advantage", Behrendorff said as the teams arrived in Adelaide on Sunday. "We might have a chat in Adelaide but what's done is done".

Speaking after the defeat, Sharma suggested former India skipper Dhoni should be promoted up the batting order.

"I think the way they rebuilt, Rohit and MS Dhoni, we knew they will take it deep and we managed to pick up the wickets at the right time".

"But we have got Rayudu, who has done really well now at No.4".

Sharma had mixed feelings about his ton.

Tamil Nadu all-rounder Vijay Shankar has been called up as a replacement for the suspended Hardik Pandya for the ODI series against Australia.

"With K.L. Rahul and Hardik Pandya set to return from Australia, the All-India Senior Selection Committee has chose to send all-rounder Vijay Shankar and batsman Shubman Gill as replacements", a Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) statement said late on Saturday.

Gill and allrounder Vijay Shankar were summoned as the replacements for KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya who were suspended pending an investigation into comments they made about women on a TV show which had been condemned as sexist and inappropriate.

Gill, 19, has been selected only for the tour of New Zealand, beginning on January 23 with a one-dayer in Napier.

Nineteen-year-old Shubman Gill has earned his maiden One-Day International (ODI) call-up for India's upcoming New Zealand tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shankar will join the side before the second ODI, while Gill will join for the New Zealand series.
