Anupam Kher responds to protests against 'The Accidental Prime Minister' in Kolkata

A spokesperson of Ashoka Cinema, the other single screen where the film was stopped, said, "We have chose to suspend the matinee show of "The Accidental Prime Minister" from today in view of the agitations by some group".

The protestors carried Congress flags and allegedly entered an auditorium in central Kolkata's Quest Mall around 8 pm when the film was about to begin.

However, Immigration Minister David Coleman is " very likely " to grant asylum if the 18-year-old passes all checks. Upon arrival in Bangkok , al-Qunun says, she was met by a Saudi embassy official who seized her passport .

The Congress workers forced the management not to screen the movie.

A group of 15 Youth Congress activists staged a protest outside a multiplex chain located on Ganesh Chandra Avenue Friday afternoon and burnt posters of the film. While the acting of Anuman Kher as Former PM Manmohan Singh and Akshaye Khanna's performance as Sanjaya Baru has been praised, the question of whether the film is a propaganda film still looms large. Now before the film had released, it created quite a buzz with it's lead actor, Anupam Kher making tall claims about the film being a honest project with no political agenda behind it. "With the help of the police, the situation was taken under control and the normal screening continued", he added. According to viewers at the theatre, the show was cancelled after 10 minutes on its opening day. "Our supporters are deeply hurt because the film tends to insult the party", senior Congress leader Om Prakash Misra said. "We do not support any acts of vandalism", he said. Vijay Ratnakar Gutte's movie has also been receiving backlash for allegedly attacking Congress, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. They should also make a film titled the disastrous Prime Minister.
