President Trump, "There was no collusion, Matt Whitaker is right".

President Trump,

An anonymous source told CNN that Trump's comments raised enough concern that they started investigating him.

"The investigation the F.B.I. opened into Mr. Trump also had a criminal aspect, which has always been publicly known: whether his firing of Mr. Comey constituted obstruction of justice".

The criminal and counterintelligence elements were coupled together into one investigation, former law enforcement officials said in interviews in recent weeks, because if Trump had ousted the head of the FBI to impede or even end the Russian Federation investigation, that was both a possible crime and a national security concern.

The officials told the newspaper that after Comey was sacked in May 2107, they become concerned when Trump tied the firing of Comey to the Russian Federation investigation.

According to the Times report, the inquiry was ultimately handed over to Robert Mueller.

Investigators have examined key episodes such as Trump's firing of former FBI Director James Comey and his fury over the recusal from the investigation of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions.

Mr. Whitaker took over supervision of Mr. Mueller's investigation on 7 November after President Trump appointed him as the chief USA law enforcement official to replace Jeff Sessions, who the president ousted.

The 49ers have been in the market for a true No. 1 wide receiver since John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan took over. Perhaps the Colts or Jets, two teams flush with cap room, could place an inquiry.

Trump's lawyers and Mueller's team have had no contact since then, Giuliani said. "In the face of those lies, a whole lot of good people... believe that nonsense", Comey told reporters in the halls of the US Senate on December 17.

A lawyer for Trump, Rudolph Giuliani, told the Times that if Federal Bureau of Investigation officials had concluded Trump was working against American interests, the public would have heard about it.

We may finally have a concrete deadline for the Mueller report.

During the campaign, FBI officials were troubled by Trump's ties to Russia, and opened an investigation into the campaign in August 2016, two months after the Trump Tower meeting between campaign senior officials and Russian surrogates.

The White House on Friday night dismissed the New York Times report as "absurd".

Trump has disputed the allegations from the dossier, which was funded by the Clinton campaign and DNC.

Mueller's final report can be finished within months and Giuliani is hoping he can use executive privilege to get his hands on it before the public.
