Criminal Minds Canceled: Will End with Season 15

The long-running CBS procedural Criminal Minds has been renewed for a fifteenth season, which will also be the show's last, Variety has confirmed.

Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of Federal Bureau of Investigation profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again.

"Hey, #CriminalMinds fans-we've got big news", the tweet read. Next, get ready for a momentous ride: "Season 15 will be our epic final season". "But they respect this series and the cast and the crew and the fans enough to end this properly".

It speaks to everything that we do best, which is to air quality television. After the 15-episode 14th season, the crime drama will return for a final 10 episodes for Season 15, Deadline reports. ABC Studios produces in association with CBS Television Studios. Season 14 is now in production with its season finale set to air on February 6.

It follows a group of behavioral profilers who work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation as members of its Behavioral Analysis Unit.

The executive producer also teased enemies from past seasons could make appearances, including "one in the works right now who's a very memorable villain", Messer teased, "but I don't want to say too much if it doesn't work out with casting". Mandy Patinkin left the show after just two seasons, Thomas Gibson was sacked in 2016 after an on-set altercation and Shemar Moore left to star on a different series.
