White Sox add another Manny Machado friend

Both clubs have been linked to Harper as well.

But money often rules the day in these situations, and the Phillies are expected to throw a lot of it at Machado and also Harper, who they will reportedly meet with Saturday in Las Vegas.

In the end, dollars, years and other factors will likely be the most important things determining where Machado signs a long-term deal, but the Sox are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit.

Since the Yankees are not in on Bryce Harper (by all appearances, at least), Machado going elsewhere would probably slightly help a dark horse like the Cubs on Harper.

But in due course, Harper will make his decision.

Those planchets went unnoticed when the bins were refilled with zinc-coated steel planchets in 1943, Heritage Auctions said . Heritage Auctions will offer the coin from January 10-13 during its Florida United Numismatists Show in Orlando.

There's "momentum building toward" the 26-year-old free-agent outfielder returning to Washington, according to a report from MLB.com, which cites an unidentified league source. The White Sox have already made their offer, described by USA Today's Bob Nightengale as "closer to $200 million than $300 million".

Cashman also said the Yankees kept Machado's agent informed as the team pursued Tulowitzki, according to Jack Curry of Yes Network.

Tulowitzki was taken by Colorado with the seventh overall pick in the 2005 amateur draft, became a star with the Rockies, and agreed after the 2010 season to a $157.75 million, 10-year contract that added $132 million over seven seasons. Jay and Machado are good friends who work out together in Miami.

Finally, all we can do as fans is await the decision, and hopefully Mr. Levine is correct and it will come sooner rather than later.
