Minnesota Timberwolves Were Frustrated With Tom Thibodeau

In two-plus seasons with Minnesota, he guided the club to a 97-107 record.

Scott Layden is now Minnesota's general manager, while Thibodeau was relieved of his duties as president and head coach on Sunday.

Saunders and Minnesota are at the halfway point of their season, sitting just outside the playoffs and two games back of the Los Angeles Lakers for the eighth seed.

In an official statement, owner, Glen Taylor said, "We would like to thank Tom for his efforts and wish him the best".

"Assistant coach Ryan Saunders will take over as interim coach for the rest of the season, while Scott Layden will remain Minnesota's general manager". "If we want to make the playoffs this year, I have to make a move, '" Hine explained.

"I am not prioritizing one over the other in respect to the National Basketball Association and college", Hoiberg said.

"The results are that I don't think we should've lost against Phoenix or Detroit or New Orleans or Atlanta", Taylor said.

What hope for markets in the US-China trade talks?
Since then, the two countries have exchanged several rounds of trade tariffs, levying duties of hundreds of billions of dollars. China says it is trying to protect its own economic interests and has accused the USA of violating global trading rules.

Thibodeau took over in Minnesota in April 2016.

Hoiberg has been mentioned as a candidate for UCLA's head coaching vacancy.

Former Timberwolves star Jimmy Butler, who also played for Thibodeau in Chicago, demanded a trade away from the team before the start of the season. Minnesota then tried to fix the problem by shipping Butler to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for young, excellent players in Dario Saric and Robert Covington.

Saunders, the son of the late Flip Saunders, is getting his first shot at a head coaching job - and he noted during his introductory press conference that he did not expect it to come this soon.

ESPN later reported the firing of Thibodeau as well as interest in former member of the Wolves Fred Hoiberg for the opening.

The Timberwolves will face the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Tuesday.
