Looks like Kyler Murray could be headed to the National Football League draft

Maybe he was just speaking broadly with cliches or a touch of an overstatement, but Kliff Kingsbury once said he'd take Kyler Murray with the No. 1 pick in the draft.

If Murray elects not to play baseball, he would have to return the signing bonus but Oakland would not receive any compensation picks in this June's draft, according to Slusser.

On Wednesday, sources told the Oakland Athletics that Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray would indeed declare for the National Football League draft. Spring training begins for the A's on February 15, and it seems unlikely that he would be able to prepare for football's combine at the same time as he was attending his first major league baseball camp. Some scouts and teams reportedly see him as a first-round pick.

Against Rotherham , for example, we played with nine players who didn't play against Liverpool and the nine were a good selection. The difference with Premier League teams is the rhythm, when you have high intensity".

Murray's agent Scott Boras was quoted in the Chronicle's story, saying "When you win the Heisman Trophy, you're going to have a lot of information come to you to be looked at", Boras said at the winter meetings in Las Vegas. "All I know is Kyler has a tremendous opportunity to be a great baseball player and he knows that".

Entering the draft doesn't necessarily mean that Murray will forgo his commitment to the Athletics, but Slusser and Schulman report that one source indicated to them that Murray is indeed leaning toward selecting football as his profession rather than baseball. Chiefly among those are that the Cardinals already have a franchise quarterback, not to mention that Murray is not widely projected to go No. 1 in the draft and Murray may not even play football. "I would take him with the first pick".

Back in October, then-Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury had seemingly endless good things to say about Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray. The Cardinals traded up to the 10th pick in the 2018 draft to nab Rosen, who had all the makings of a top quarterback but slipped in part because of his outspoken nature.
