Jets to hire Gase as head coach

The New York Jets are expected to name Adam Gase as their head coach, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Gase, 40, has a reputation as a quarterback guru. He was sacked, as expected, immediately after the 2018 season.

Gase was sacked at the end of the season by the Miami Dolphins after three seasons.

What hope for markets in the US-China trade talks?
Since then, the two countries have exchanged several rounds of trade tariffs, levying duties of hundreds of billions of dollars. China says it is trying to protect its own economic interests and has accused the USA of violating global trading rules.

However, the Jets weren't discouraged by the Dolphins' stagnant offenses under Gase, and now he'll get another chance to prove that earlier hype was warranted. He led Miami to a playoff appearance in his first year, however posted losing records in each of his final two campaigns, including a 7-9 mark in 2018. He previously worked with Peyton Manning.

This came on the same day as former Jets coach Todd Bowles was hired as Tampa Bay's defensive coordinator.

More than anything else, the Jets were looking for their next coach to be able to develop Sam Darnold into their franchise quarterback. However, Rhule reportedly pulled out of contention for the job after being told he wouldn't be given control to hire his own assistants, per SNY's Ralph Vacchiano.
