A California man is caught on camera licking a stranger's doorbell

KION reports that Saturday morning, a man police identify Roberto Daniel Arroyo, spent about three hours licking the Dungan family's doorbell and milling around their yard.

The incident occurred Friday, Jan. 4 around 2 a.m.

Homeowner Sylvia Dungan told local station KION-TV that the security system alerted the family to unusual movement in the early morning over the weekend.

Freakish video footage shows a prowler spending three hours licking the doorbell of a stranger's home.

Arroyo reportedly went to a neighbor's house as well. He has not yet been located. The theft charges stem from the fact Arroyo removed several extension cords connected to Christmas lights from the front yard of the victim residence.

"I thought boy there's a lot of traffic", said homeowner Sylvia Dunga.

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a doorbell?

Mrs Dungan added: "You kind of laugh about it afterwards because technically he didn't do anything".

"We were pleasantly surprised the image was so clear it didn't take us long to identify the individual", Salinas Police spokesman Miguel Cabrera said.

Police told the news station the doorbell licker could be charged with two misdemeanor charges, including prowling.

Authorities are now searching for a prowler caught on surveillance footage engaging in some downright peculiar behavior outside of a California home.
