The Patriots are reportedly preparing for the departure of Josh McDaniels

Update, 12:15 p.m., January 5: ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that USC has denied permission to the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals to interview its new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury.

USC initially had been blocking National Football League teams from interviewing Kingsbury, who joined the Trojans' staff last month after being fired as Texas Tech's head coach. But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said the school had granted approval for Kingsbury to interview with the Cardinals. He has previous head coaching experience, a long history of coordinating productive and creative offenses, over a decade of overseeing future Hall of Fame quarterback Tom Brady and huge respect from many in New England, including Bill Belichick.

Before joining USC in December, Kingsbury was sacked as Texas Tech's head coach in November after a 5-7 season.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, there is strong mutual interest between Kingsbury and the Cardinals.

The bad news is that it's not a current-gen title but just a mobile game (as Blizzard said... hey, don't you have mobiles?). I really enjoyed Alien: Isolation and was looking forward to this being available on either the console or PC platforms.

The former Air Raid slinger served as offensive coordinator at Texas A&M during the height of Johnny Manziel mania before taking the post at Texas Tech. But he went 35-40 over six seasons as head coach and was let go after a 5-7 campaign in 2018. He was a quarterback at Texas Tech and spent time as a QB with the Jets, New England Patriots and New Orleans Saints. He has interviewed with the Packers, and the Browns reportedly are interested.

Update, 3:15 p.m., January 7: Kliff Kingsbury's time at USC might have ended before it even began.

The apparent obstacle the Arizona Cardinals had with one of their head coaching targets is reportedly gone.
