Ronaldo wins player of year in Globe Soccer Awards

Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo has insisted he is not obsessed with individual awards after enjoying another stellar year in 2018. The event will take place at the Madinat Jumeirah on Thursday.

The Les Blues boss ousted an impressive list of nominees that included Zinedine Zidane, Diego Simeone of Atletico Madrid, Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool and Juventus' Massimiliano Allegri.

Best coach of the year was the national coach of France Didier Deschamps, who led Les Bleus at last year's world Championship in Russian Federation for the first time since 1998, became world Champions.

Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo has celebrated the New Year in the United Arab Emirates.

Ukrainian Orthodox Church gets 'autocephaly' status
The Russian church , which now has about 150 million Orthodox Christians under its authority, could lose a fifth of its members. Ukraine marked a historic split from Russian Federation in December when it chose the head of a new national Orthodox church.

A TV audience of more than 800 million viewers is expected to watch the Globe Soccer Awards, which will also see trophies presented to the best coach, club, sporting director, referee and agent.

"The fans aren't asking me to save the country though..." Ronaldo is now in Dubai where he was named the best player in the world at the Globe Soccer Awards. "I've scored nearly 700 goals in my career and this is more handsome than I first thought".

Cristiano Ronaldo vowed to return to the Portugal setup in 2019 after skipping his nation's matches following the World Cup.

Mendes further heaped praise on his golden boy Ronaldo and went on to make a bold statement about who he thinks will win the Champions League this season.
