'Impeach the motherf***er': Newly-elected Democratic congresswoman vows to impeach Donald Trump

In the Rose Garden on Friday, Trump said he found Tlaib's comments "disgraceful" and thought she "dishonored herself" as well as "her family".

Newly elected Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib of MI is getting some pushback from fellow lawmakers on Capitol Hill after using a profanity Thursday evening when she said President Donald Trump should be impeached.

Whether impeachment proceedings will actually take place is a question perhaps best left to Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Rep. Jerrold Nadler of NY, the incoming chairman of the House Judiciary Committee.

"She could have said it better than that, she got her point across but there's other ways you can get your point across without using swear words", Kevin Stevinson said.

"I wouldn't use that language, but I wouldn't establish language standards for my colleagues", Pelosi said.

"Republican hypocrisy at its finest: saying that Trump admitting to sexual assault on tape is just 'locker room talk, ' but scandalizing themselves into faux-outrage when my sis says a curse word in a bar", Ocasio-Cortez wrote Saturday on Twitter, referring to Trump's lewd comments on a 2005 "Access Hollywood" tape that surfaced during the 2016 campaign. Thanks to a field splintered among multiple Democratic candidates, Tlaib squeaked to victory with just 31.2 percent of the vote before going on to win the general election easily.

One day into their new House majority, several US Democrats are trying to jump-start the impeachment action that many in the party have been talking about for two years.

In another tweet, the president claimed that he "won perhaps the greatest election of all time" and that he has "done nothing wrong (no Collusion with Russian Federation, it was the Dems that Colluded)". "Bullies don't win.' And I said, 'baby they don't, '" Tlaib told a crowd Thursday night. We still haven't seen Mueller's findings and it will take a considerable amount of time for Pelosi, Nadler and other Democratic leaders to hire staff, hold hearings and begin playing catch-up on investigations that began years ago.

The California lawmaker told comedian Stephen Colbert in October that a higher level of political discourse was on the agenda if the midterm elections favored Democrats.

Their argument is that this kind of attack fuels Trump's hard-core base - as if they're not already on rocket fuel, revved up by his every tweet - and turns off swing voters and independents, who may be on the fence.

Though the president has vigorously dismissed any such talk publicly, he has reportedly grown anxious in recent months about being impeached. They also ignore the fact that numerous impeachable offenses committed by this president are beyond the scope of the special counsel's investigation.

Still, Pelosi said she didn't like the language and wouldn't use it.

"I have never said that in a public setting".

Trump said that Pelosi assured him during the meeting that "we're not looking to impeach you", and that he replied "that's good, Nancy, that's good".
