College basketball: Edwards scores 21 to lead Purdue over No. 25 Iowa

According to Purdue Boilermakers coach Matt Painter, however, his squad not only has a solid reserve, but those backups are often better than the starters.

Thursday night marks the first conference home game of 2019 for Purdue, and Mackey Arena is expected to be packed.

"I'm concerned about how we played in that stretch, there's no question, especially at the end of the half", Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery said. "Being able to have an overall consistent defensive effort from your team in back-to-back games and that kind of production from your bench is what you need".

So often this season, the Boilermakers have fallen in love with the three pointer and it has cost them a win on more than one occasion, but against Iowa they pounded the ball into the paint again and again... and again. Purdue takes a 9-5 record on the road to East Lansing and Madison next for another pair of challenging games that will likely uncover the truth about this Boilermaker squad, good or bad, before they return home to face Rutgers.

Patriots rookie linebacker Ja'Whaun Bentley touched on the life of fellow Purdue student Tyler Trent, who died Tuesday after a lengthy battle with a rare form of bone cancer.

West Virginia Has Reportedly Found Its Next Head Coach
Brown took over for longtime Troy head coach Larry Blakeney in 2014 after Blakeney led the team to a 3-9 record the year before. After going 4-8 in his first season, the Trojans are 31-8 the past three seasons combined and won three bowl games.

Both Purdue and Iowa wore #TylerStrong t-shirts in his memory during warm-ups. "It's heavy on our hearts".

The Hawkeyes played their third straight game without sophomore center Luka Garza.

Quite the move by the Boilermakers and Hawkeyes to honor Trent's untimely passing. Senior guard Ryan Cline is the only other Boilermaker to average double-digit points with 13.1 points per game. Carsen Edwards led Purdue with 24 points on 9-of-21 shooting including 3-of-8 on 3-point tries plus 3-of-4 at the free thorw line. "You can't go on the road at Purdue and go down 17".
