Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Under Consideration For Man United Job

One man who perhaps surprisingly is being linked with the position is former United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the club saying in a statement that they plan to appoint a caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Like United, they see 46-year-old Pochettino as the ideal coach to take their young squad forward with his brand of progressive, vibrant football. There was also great concern that starlets Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard were not progressing under the manager and younger talent was not being allowed to blossom.

The Norwegian would immediately strike a chord with supporters and his first game would be against Cardiff City, where he endured a poor six months as manager back in 2014.

"He fits that mould, and there's a number of other ex-players who would".

The vehicle was described as "excessively dirty" and littered with french fries, chicken nuggets and moldy chicken wings. According to police, Gallagher admitted offering the marijuana in exchange for his food, but said it was a joke.

Solskjaer was the hero on one of the club's most famous nights, scoring the victor deep in stoppage time as United completed a 2-1 comeback triumph over Bayern Munich in the 1999 Champions League final to complete an unprecedented treble. So would Laurent Blanc or Steve Bruce, as would Michael Carrick.

"It is not my business what has happened in another club now".

On the reports he could replace Mourinho, he added: "In five years here a lot of rumours have happened and I respect a lot the opinion of everyone. I can not answer this type of question because rumours happen".

Solskjaer, nicknamed the baby-faced assassin, scored 128 goals in 367 appearances for United during 10 seasons playing under the club's legendary boss Alex Ferguson, who signed him from Molde in 1996. Phelan was unceremoniously dumped as assistant when David Moyes succeeded Ferguson.
