Lenovo built a slider phone with 12GB of RAM

Today, Lenovo took to Chinese micro-blogging site Weibo to announce the upcoming Lenovo Z5 Pro GT, which is the first announced smartphone to come with an absolutely bonkers 12GB of RAM.

Lenovo on Tuesday had a lot of smartphone announcements to make. But forget all about that for a second, as the first smartphone with 12GB of RAM was just unveiled. Up front, there is a 16-megapixel sensor again with f/2.0 aperture. Neither Xiaomi nor OnePlus, or Samsung is the first company to announce a Snapdragon-855 fueled smartphone; it is actually the underdog Lenovo. Lenovo will also sell a more affordable version of the handset, according to data on its website, featuring a Snapdragon 710 processor, 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It's an extra 2GB more than what the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition comes with, and that was insane in itself. Next was the Lenovo Z5s which brings a waterdrop display, triple rear cameras and a Snapdragon 710 chipset. Lenovo Z5s specifications The Lenovo Z5s features a 6.39-inch full HD+ screen with 1080x2340 pixel resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. However, there are more RAM options, larger internal storage options, and, of course, the addition of the Snapdragon 855 chipset, which will likely be the default chip for nearly every Android flagship in 2019.

The variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage is priced at RMB 2,998 (around Rs 30,800) while the 256GB storage model is priced at RMB 3,998 (around Rs 41,100). The Lenovo S5 Pro GT has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and also has IR Face Unlock. The maxed-out model with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage will cost a reasonable-sounding 4,398 yuan or $638.

Leaks and rumors were suggesting that the Lenovo Z5s will sport a display camera hole, a centered hole at the top of the display, but that did not happen.

The first Android phone in the world with 12GB of RAM is already here

Lastly, the Lenovo S5 Pro GT, successor to the S5 Pro has a 6.2-inch display with a notch. The two cameras use a 16-megapixel primary Sony IMX519 sensor with 6P Largan-branded lens and f/1.8-2.6 variable aperture, and a 24-megapixel secondary Sony IMX576 sensor with 6P Largan-branded lens and f/1.8-2.8 variable aperture. The device sports a really thin "chin" below the display, and some color accents on the back.

The Z5 Pro GT is essentially a beefed-up version of the Z5 Pro, which came out last month. Both variants offer storage expansion, in case you were wondering. Dirac audio is included here, same goes for Bluetooth 5.0. Also, the dimensions of the device measure 156.7×74.5×7.85mm and it weighs 172 grams.

The new Lenovo Z5s debuts in three colour options which include the Honey Orange, Gray, and Titanium Crystal Blue. The phone will cost 4,398 yuan ($638) in China, but availability details for worldwide markets haven't been revealed.

The phone will continue to keep the slider design of this year's Z5 Pro, which means the display will not see a notch of any kind.

MLS announces new single-elimination playoff format to start in 2019
In past seasons, the breaks have taken place during the MLS playoffs, forcing a pause and interrupting the postseason momentum. The league expands to 24 teams with the addition of Cincinnati next year, and 14 teams will make the playoffs.
