Chris Smalling signs new Manchester United contract

Smalling extended his current deal by three years with the option of a further year, having been at United since 2010.

The centre-back joined United from Fulham in 2010 and has won all major trophies in English football during his time with the Red Devils, including the 2010-11 and 2012-13 Premier League titles.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling has put pen to paper on a new contract that could see him remain at the club for four more years. Chris has been with the club for a number of years and is now one of the senior players within our squad'.

He has 12 goals to his credit in over 180 appearances in all competitions and is regarded as one of the longest serving stars at the club.

Smalling has made 18 appearances under United boss Jose Mourinho this season.

While delighted to have committed his long-term future to United, Smalling is aware of how important the present is for the Red Devils.

Smalling featured in United's previous two Premier League games against Arsenal and Fulham, but did not play in his side's midweek Champions League defeat in Valencia.
