Why Suns Threaten Relocation To One Of These Cities

Could Las Vegas be closer to getting an National Basketball Association team?

As of Wednesday, the city council vote for a $230 million renovation of the 26-year-old Talking Stick Resort Arena hit a snag.

The contentious battle to get Talking Stick Resort Arena renovated has led to Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver dipping into the leverage file and issuing a few threats. According to a report by Laurie Roberts of AZCentral, Sarver has even threatened to relocate the team to Seattle or Las Vegas if the votes don't swing in his favor.

Meanwhile, Sarver is telling city officials that he may take the team to Seattle or Las Vegas, one source told me.

The Suns agreed to a 40-year lease in 1992, but the deal included a provision for the team to opt out at 30 years.

May likely to delay vote on Brexit deal
The Prime Minister must either govern or quit'. "Disappointed it has taken so long for Prime Minister to listen". May's government says the terms are the only way to exit while protecting the supply chains of British business.

"Any four council members can kill the arena deal and as of Monday, there already are three no votes: Councilmen Sal DiCiccio and Jim Waring and Councilwoman Vania Guevara". He bought the Suns in 2004 for a then-record $401 million.

The cost of the proposed project in Phoenix would reportedly be split, with the city paying $150 million and Sarver's team spending $80 million and also committing to build a new practice facility in the area.

"We have learned that a request has been made to continue the agenda item on the arena renovation until a council meeting on January 23", said Suns president and CEO Jason Rowley in a statement.

Williams is asking the council to postpone the vote until next month - allowing time for two public hearings - rather than suffering a potentially lopsided defeat today that could kill future prospects for a deal.

"I first want to say that I am proud and honored to have Talking Stick Resort Arena and the Phoenix Suns in District 7".
