Body found in search for British tourist in New Zealand

Millane's body was found in the Waitakere Ranges on Sunday.

A 26-year-old man has been charged with her murder.

"At this point we don't know where this item is", he said.

"Someone may have come across it, picked it up and taken it home".

"We need to speak to that person or anyone who has seen it", he said.

Her father David, who reported her as missing, arrived in New Zealand on Friday and issued an emotional appeal for information relating to the disappearance of his "fun-loving, outgoing and family-orientated" daughter.

Her arrest has roiled global markets as investors worry it could halt attempts to ease trade tensions between the USA and China. Meng Wanzhou was recently detained while changing flights in Vancouver. "We will continue to follow the bail hearing tomorrow".

She said: "Firstly, I can not imagine the grief of her family and what they will be experiencing and feeling right now".

A "location of interest" was identified on Saturday night, leading investigators to a spot on Scenic Drive - a country road about 12 miles (19km) west of the city centre.

The suspect is in custody and is yet to enter a plea to the charge of murdering Ms Millane between 1 and 2 December.

Ms Millane disappeared on Dec 1, on the eve of her 22nd birthday, and her family's worst fears were confirmed when her body was found. She traveled from there to New Zealand on November 20, but she disappeared on December 1; her family became concerned when they didn't hear from her on her birthday the following day.

"The worldwide media, particularly the British media are not helping the Millane family", Mr Little said.

He wrote on Instagram: "You are my sunshine, my only sunshine".

"You think, well, I'm on Tinder, I travel by myself, I walk at night by myself to my vehicle, something like that could happen". You'll never know, dear, how much I love you.
