Twins Sign Jonathan Schoop and Ronald Torreyes

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Minnesota Twins have reportedly signed second baseman Jonathan Schoop to a one-year deal.

The Twins have signed backup infielder Ronald Torreyes, the team announced Thursday. Jon Heyman has reported that the deal is believed to be for about $800,000.

He appeared in 20 games at second base last season, 11 games at third and nine games at shortstop.

Prosecutors Recommend 'Substantial' Prison Time for Michael Cohen Despite His Assistance
Mueller's memo says Cohen has met with the special counsel's office in seven different sessions to provide valuable information. In August, 52-year-old Cohen pleaded guilty to violating campaign finance law in connection with the payments.

After having a terrific 2017 campaign, Schoop fell off considerably in 2018, hitting only.233 during his time with both the Orioles and Brewers. He has played parts of four seasons in the majors with the Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers, hitting.281 with 30 doubles, six triples, four home runs and 56 RBIs in 229 games. If Schoop can get his feet back under him, they'll have an All-Star caliber player on a cheap deal.

He was claimed off waivers by the Cubs last week, then became a free agent when the Cubs didn't offer a 2019 contracts. He spent 5 1/2 seasons with the Orioles.
