John Collins was most pleased that Atlanta avenged a blowout loss to Denver.

The Atlanta Hawks have had a rough go of it here recently, as they are overmatched in terms of talent and experience on most nights.

Collins thought back to a 138-93 loss to the Nuggets last month. "It's very important to stay aggressive and make every touch as tough as possible".

Collin Sexton, meanwhile, equalled a career-high 29 points as the Cleveland Cavaliers topped the Washington Wizards 116-101, Tristan Thompson adding 23 points and 19 rebounds at the Quicken Loans Arena.

After that Morris triple, Tony Parker hit a huge pull-up jumper to give Charlotte a five-point lead with 56 seconds of game time left.

Nuggets coach Michael Malone was rightfully concerned about Walker, whose deft dribble and unsafe outside shot made him a darkhorse MVP candidate earlier this year. "The third quarter our defense was non-existent". The Nuggets shot just 38 percent from the field and dropped to 17-8 on the year.

The Nuggets' seven-game win streak is over. The Spaniard averages only 9.5 points, but went off for 25 points and nine rebounds in the first meeting with Denver. Atlanta built the margin to 84-72 on a driving layup by Bembry with 58 seconds left in the period.

Carter scored 11 of his 13 points in the third, and the Hawks outscored the Nuggets 35-21 to take an 86-77 lead into the fourth. Morris contributed with 12 points.

The power forward added 12 rebounds and was backed up by Vince Carter and DeAndre' Bembry in a third-quarter rally to clinch the 106-98 win.

"To me, that was one of his better floor games", coach Lloyd Pierce said. "We've got to find ways and solutions".

Nuggets: It's not hard to see how they lost. "Guys came out and played great in that second half".

The Hawks were without Jeremy Lin (back), Alex Poythress (left ankle), Omari Spellman (hip), Miles Plumlee (knee) and Taurean Prince (ankle).

Nuggets forward Paul Millsap has a broken toe in his right foot, according to ESPN, which cites unidentified league sources. High-scoring guards Will Barton (right hip/core) and Gary Harris (right hip) also were out. Denver returns home on Monday to begin a four-game homestand against Memphis.
