Nokia 8.1 announced: X7 for the West

Offers on the device include 1TB of 4G data on plans starting from Rs 199 for Airtel prepaid users buying the Nokia 7.1. But this is not a new device, its just the Nokia X7 arriving in the Western market. We can thus expect the smartphone to make its way to India this month as well. It sports a 6.18-inch full-HD+ (1080x2244 pixels) display with a 18.7:9 aspect ratio, 81.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, HDR10 support, 500 nits peak brightness, and is capable of a 96 percent colour gamut. As with all Nokia smartphones in the Android One programme, you'll get more battery and storage space out of the box thanks to a carefully curated set of pre-loaded apps. Plus, there's a 20MP camera on the front.

For imaging, Nokia 7.1 has a ZEISS-enhanced dual-lens camera system at the back, comprised of a 12-megapixel lens and a 5-megapixel lens. Like Nokia's recent launches such as the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7.1, the Nokia 8.1 also features a glass back with metal frame running all around. The rear camera comes with features such as Optical Image Stabilization, Electronic Image Stabilization, dual PDAF, AI scene detection and optimization for low-light photography. It is offered with 64GB of inbuilt storage with support for storage expandability up to 400GB via microSD card. The Nokia 8.1 supports connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ AGPS + GLONASS. NFC for Google Pay and a rear fingerprint sensor round out the package. The company is also touting the presence of 18W fast charging.

And now, the Nokia 8.1 is finally expected to make its worldwide debut soon. It also gets the PureDisplay screen technology that was first introduced with the Nokia 7.1.
