Instagram Rolls Out 'Close Friends' Stories

Instagram Rolls Out 'Close Friends' Stories

To do all these, you'll need to be on the updated version of the Instagram app. Instagram has started pushing out the update to its apps on Android's Playstore and Apple's App Store. To that end, Instagram is rolling out a new "Close Friends" feature to promote sharing among a smaller and presumably tighter-knit circle of users. These will show up in YouTube's "Up Next" sidebar beside a video.

The story poster, though, can only respond with either an image or a video.

Once you click on the hamburger icon, you'll find the "Close Friends List" as the fourth option. Fans can leave comments or questions on stories, and creators can publicly address each response.

As a creator, you're always looking to strengthen your relationship with your audience. Through testing the Stories format with a small group of you over the past year, we've seen you do just that, from FashionbyAlly giving updates on what's coming next, to Colin and Samir bringing their fans into the creative process. Well, we've gotten to the section of this article where I'll be showing you how to go about all that.

Though the tool is not aimed at advertising partners, Adweek published a guide to crafting and distributing content via YouTube Stories.

Special counsel notes Michael Flynn's cooperation, recommends no prison time
Flynn could face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, but is likely to receive a lesser sentence. He has instead spent considerable time with his family and worked to position himself for a post-conviction career.

Once that's done, you can create a story just for those people. One user suggested that YouTube needs to focus on fixing its ongoing issues, including demonetization problems and advertising concerns, before rolling out bonus features. When users select that, a message will appear that says, "Add People to Your Close Friends List".

However, friends are not notified if they are removed or added to your "Close Friends" list, and can not request access.

Those on your "Close Friends" list will see a green ring around your Story in the tray at the top of the feed - a visual signal that a close friend has shared something more privately with you standing out from the standard pink-purple gradient rings.

In October, Instagram appointed long-term insider Adam Mosseri as the head of the photo-sharing app following the high-profile exits of the photo-sharing app's co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.

Instagram users now have the option to create a "Close Friends" list of specific people they want to share stories with. It's also important to note that one way to tell if someone has added you to their list is you'll see a green badge when you're looking at their Story.
