UAE passport ranked most powerful globally

Pakistan's passport continues to be ranked among the lowest coming in at 92 with visa-free travel to only eight and visa on arrival to 27.

The ministry launched the UAE Passport Force initiative to place the Emirati passport on the list of the five most powerful passports in the world by 2021, but achieved this goal three years early.

UAE passport holders can enter 167 countries without obtaining a visa prior to arrival, according to Passport Index, a list created by a Montreal-based financial advisory firm Arton Capital.

This beat last year's number one passport, Singapore.

The positive impact of ease of travel not only makes it possible for UAE nationals to travel freely for tourism, but also has economic, developmental and even humanitarian benefits, by facilitating trade and economic investment for individuals and institutions. Previous year the blue, eagle-emblazoned passports didn't even come in the top 10. The exceptional achievement on 1st December, 2018, coincides with the "Year of Zayed" and country's 47th National Day and is added to country's numerous accomplishments in various domains. It was developed by Canada-based global consultancy Arton Capital.

The Passport Index ranks in real-time the passports of the United Nations' 193 member countries and six additional territories.

Fred Hoiberg fired as Chicago Bulls coach
However, there is a case to be made in defense of Fred Hoiberg , and it's one that seems to be the prevailing sentiment. Hoiberg was hired by the Bulls in 2015-16 after a five-year NCAA coaching career with Iowa State.

Eleven countries including the United States tied for third place with their citizens able to access 165 destinations without a visa.

The UK ties for fourth place with Belgium, Austria, Japan, Greece, Portugal, Switzerland, Ireland and Canada on 164 countries.

At the other end of the table is Afghanistan, where citizens can travel visa-free to just 29 countries.

According to the website, people with a Pakistani passport can obtain a visa on arrival in the following countries: Cambodia, Cape Verde, Comoros, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, Nepal, Palau, Rwanda, Samoa, Somalia, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tuvalu, and Uganda.
