British couple to be reunited with engagement ring lost in Times Square

A video accompanying the tweet appears to show the couple having just proposed outside the exit to a subway system.

"He proposed in Central Park but the ring was slightly too big and fell off", Anthony explained in one post.

"We could not believe it, we really thought it was gone", Anthony said. "Can't thank officers enough!"

Daniella said yes straight away but they both knew the ring wasn't the right size.

In the end, there was an appeal by the Commissioner of the New York City Police Department himself: "If anyone can find this (un) lucky couple, it's New Yorkers and the millions who visit Times Square".

"The couple have left the United States. Case closed! Love, John, Daniella, and the NYPD".

Police released surveillance images and footage of the couple trying to retrieve the ring.

The inconsolable couple then returned home without leaving their names with the NYPD, who were later able to recover the ring and clean it.

Marvel is Finally Developing ‘Shang-Chi,’ Their First Asian Superhero Movie
Marvel Studios is reportedly eyeing its first tentpole superhero franchise with an Asian lead, focused on the character Shang-Chi. In the comics, Shang-Chi is trained from childhood in seclusion; he becomes the world's greatest martial artist.

They were on the way back to the hotel, however, when disaster struck.

Meanwhile, NYPD officers continued their search and on Saturday morning they finally located the ring on top of the garbage about eight feet (2.4 meters) underground.

On Saturday, the NYPD put out an all points Twitter bulletin seeking the woeful groom.

The tweet stated: "WANTED for dropping his fiancée's ring in @TimesSquareNYC!".

They've now found them, allowing Daniella to finally slip that lovely ring on her finger. " ... Officers rescued it & would like to return it to the happy couple".

They said: "We would like to thank everyone who shared this story!"

The story has some "hopeless romantics" just as anxious as the NYPD to find the almost-engaged couple. "Here are some more photos, does anyone recognize them?"

The happy couple chose to grab a bite to eat and see the Christmas Spectacular in Times Square when the ring escaped.
