Apple approves India’s controversial Do Not Disturb app

While Apple technically still had some room before the deadline, it looks like the app has been approved and is now available in the iOS App Store for iPhones. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had released the DND app for Android and iOS platforms back in 2016. After that, TRAI held several meetings with Apple to request access to call logs and messages, as it's usually against iOS' policies. With the average smartphone user in the country receiving up to 10 spam calls and texts a day, the app allows users to join a "Do Not Disturb" list and report unwanted calls and messages. "Provided that where such devices do not permit functioning of such Apps as prescribed in regulations 6 (2)(e) and regulations 23 (2)(d), Access Providers shall, on the order or direction of the Authority, derecognize such devices from their telecom networks". This means iPad and iPhone users in India will now be able to user Trai's Do Not Disturb app on their respective devices. To recollect, both Apple and Trai faced numerous struggles to come to a mutual agreement for the inclusion of the TRAI DND app in the App store.

When you activate the DND app (or any other SMS/ Call Report app for that matter), Apple warns that by "enabling this SMS/ Call reporting allows your device to send to the developer of this app information about your calls and text messages you choose to report".

The victor and runner-up in each of the 10 groups will qualify automatically for the UEFA EURO 2020 final tournament. Twelve teams have been promoted to a higher league and 12 have been relegated, including powerhouse Germany .

Apple requires that app updates, such as new features or security improvements, are downloaded via the App Store itself, so that the company can approve them.

Apple is now hosting the app- "TRAI DND-Do Not Disturb"- as long as it does not compromise Apple's privacy norms and also meets Trai's objectives.
