'Jack Reacher' TV series on the way, Tom Cruise no longer involved

'Jack Reacher' TV series on the way, Tom Cruise no longer involved

The saying "small is beautiful" might have some truth to it - but not if you want to play tall, hard-bitten, ex-army men with hands like dinner plates, as Tom Cruise has found to his cost.

BBC has the report of Cruise's official exit from the Reacher franchise, with the new outlet reaching out to Jack Reacher creator and novel series author, Lee Child for comment. "Long form streaming television, with a completely new actor", he says. "We had a lot of fun", Child told the BBC.

However, in a 2011 interview, Child didn't appear overly concerned about Cruise's height - or lack of it - at the time, telling Empire magazine: "Obviously, Tom Cruise doesn't match the physical description of Reacher in the books... but the movie is not going to match the book anyway".

Of course, this is Tom Cruise we're talking about.

The "Jack Reacher" novels will be adapted into a television series but the author said Tom Cruise will not reprise his role because he doesn't have the character's "physicality".

Crude Down Record 11th Day
One analyst , Phil Flynn of Price Futures in Chicago , said of Tuesday's sell-off: " It's like a run on the bank ". Brent ended down US$4.65, or 6.6 per cent, to US$65.47 a barrel, the largest one-day loss since July 2018.

Lee doubled-down on the fact his character is meant to reduce grown adults to quivering messes just by existing near them; Cruise definitely brought the smackdown in the films, but was never the absolute unit described on the page.

"Jack Reacher" was a commercial success that grossed more than $200 million, according to Box Office Mojo. The size of Reacher is, important and it's a big component of who he is.

"I really enjoyed working with Cruise". The idea is that when Reacher walks into a room, you're all a little nervous just for that first minute. "But ultimately the readers are right".

Child confirmed there won't be any more movies with Cruise, adding they're hoping to take a TV series "to Netflix or something like that" which will cast "the ideal guy". Instead we're going to take it to Netflix or something like that.

The Jack Reacher film franchise is done, apparently.
