Kirstjen Nielsen could be asked to resign soon, officials predict

President Trump has reportedly concluded that he will eventually replace Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen but according to The Journal had not decided on when.

Ricardel clashed with Melania Trump's staff over seating on the plane and NSC resources requested for the first lady's recent trip to Africa, according to the Wall Street Journal.

First lady Melania Trump demanded the ouster of National Security Adviser John Bolton's top deputy, Mira Ricardel, on Tuesday as reports swirled about an imminent shakeup of President Donald Trump's administration.

A senior Trump administration official speaking on condition of anonymity told the Guardian that Ricardel remained at the White House on Tuesday.

But even before the East Wing dust-up, Ricardel repeatedly tangled with Defense Secretary James Mattis, CNN reported - a rivalry that goes back to the presidential transition when she tried to block Mattis from hiring people who'd either been critical of, or insufficiently loyal to Trump.

The statement came as U.S. media reported that Mr Trump was considering a shake up in the White House West Wing, and may be considering removing White House Chief of Staff John Kelly or Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen.

Mum-of-one Melania can speak more languages than any other First Lady before her: English, French, German, Italian, Serbian and of course her mother tongue, Slovenian.

Ricardel has denied trying to undermine Mattis.

Nielsen, who is the leading authority in curbing illegal immigration, said she shared Trump's frustration after news of her alleged letter was made public.

But tensions between Mrs Trump and Kelly are also said to have angered the president after his wife complained.

Still, Trump is said to have blamed her for a rebound in the number of people arrested at the Mexican border this year.

"The president has grumbled for months about what he views as Nielsen's lackluster performance on immigration enforcement and is believed to be looking for a replacement who will implement his policy ideas with more alacrity". White House press secretary Sarah Sanders had no immediate reaction to Melania Trump's statement.

The Post reports that while she feels that way Chief of Staff John F. Kelly has been fighting to keep her.
