Falcons sign Bruce Irvin to one-year deal

Falcons sign Bruce Irvin to one-year deal

The move comes less than three days after the Raiders officially released the 31-year-old Super Bowl champion.

Irvin, who was born in Atlanta and played high school football in the area, agreed to a one-year deal with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday. One of the areas that Atlanta has struggled tremendously this season is getting to the quarterback now being 27th with 17 sacks on the season while opposing quarterbacks hold a 102.5 passer rating.

The Falcons confirmed they had a contract agreement with Irvin.

Bruce Irvin is going to back to where he started.

The Falcons made it happen by extending a one-year deal worth a reported $1.5.

Irvin has 40 sacks and 15 forced fumbles over 98 career games.

Maurizio Sarri praises Ross Barkley for reviving Chelsea career
Sarri is set to make wholesale changes to his defence after resting his key men for the Europa League win over BATE Borisov . The win extended the London club's unbeaten streak this season to 17 games.

"He will add to our rotation along the defensive line, while adding to our pass rush", Quinn said.

While defensive end isn't a major need, the Patriots are always looking to improve and Irvin certainly would have helped. With Vic Beasley and Takk McKinley already in place on the edge, might Quinn and defensive coordinator Marquand Manuel get creative and bump one of them inside?

Maximizing his chances to win a second ring wasn't the primary motivation for Irvin this week.

After news broke that Irvin was signing with his home-town team, Irvin took to Twitter to celebrate.

What Seattle loses in not getting Irvin to return, though, is a player who has been a consistent pass rushing threat almost his entire career. Keep an eye out for my articles covering the Falcons, Yellowjackets and other collegiate and professional teams.
