The delay of the Windows 10 October 2018 Update has apparently resulted in some unexpected frustrations for certain OEMs according to a report by Petri's Brad Sams who has spoken to several company employees off the record.

Many are facing a Windows Activation troubleshoot dialog box that says the device is running on a Windows 10 Home key while in fact, the device has Windows 10 Pro installed in it.

Microsoft support owes these users an apology as the activations were legitimate, it was Microsoft's servers that were wrong. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is now working on a fix.

Feedback from Reddit seems to indicate that the issue is largely affecting users that upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from a Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 8.1 Pro installation as part of the free upgrade program years ago.

Previously the app was only available preloaded on compatible PCs from brands like Lenovo, but Alexa is now available from the Windows 10 store.
