Chris Christie Being Considered To Replace Jeff Sessions As Attorney General

According to two people familiar with the discussions who spoke to CBS' Major Garrett, the list of possible replacements will continue to grow over the next several days.

Democrats have slammed Whitaker's appointment to replace Sessions, arguing that Trump is trying to undermine Mueller and demanding that Whitaker recuse himself from supervising the Mueller investigation due to his writings and public comments attacking the investigation.

Politico noted that Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and Sen. Though Sessions was an early and prominent campaign backer of Trump, his departure letter lacked effusive praise for the president and made clear the resignation came "at your request". Christie also was plucked to lead Trump's transition team after he was elected.

Rep. Jerrold Nadler, D-N.Y., who is likely to become head of the Judiciary Committee as Democrats gain control of the House next year, said "it would be wholly inappropriate for Mr. Whitaker to supervise the special counsel investigation given his documented history of opposition to it".

The president lambasted Sessions for recusing himself from decisions about the federal probe into Russian meddling, an inquiry the president has regularly lambasted as "fake news" and a "witch hunt". "And that attorney-general doesn't fire Bob Mueller, but he just reduces his budget to so low that his investigation grinds to nearly a halt", said Mr Whitaker in an interview with CNN previous year. Joni Ernst (R-IA), telling the Des Moines Register, "I'm 100 percent pro-life".

He had also pressed to reauthorize a controversial secret domestic spying program over the Justice Department's protests.

Although the film has not gone up to the mark and trade analyst Taran Adarsh has stated this film a totally disappointing. The Vijay Krishna Acharya directorial, however, emerged as a disappointment, reportedly.

The investigation is looking into USA allegations of Russian meddling in the election two years ago and any possible co-ordination between Russian and the Trump campaign, which the president denies.

In February 2016, Sessions became the first sitting senator to endorse Trump's presidential campaign, and in the months leading up to the election, he became one of the candidate's closest national security advisers.

Mr Trump has at various times belittled Mr Sessions as "beleaguered", "VERY weak", and "DISGRACEFUL".

Trump has long expressed frustration with Sessions over his recusal from the Justice Department's Russian Federation investigation.

Sessions took the lead in imposing Trump's travel ban targeting a number of mostly Muslim nations, canceling the so-called Dreamer program that let the children of undocumented immigrants remain in the US and forcing the separation of migrant families as part of a border crossing crackdown.

"He took the job and then he said, "I'm going to recuse myself.' I said, 'What kind of a man is this?'" Trump said this year in a Fox News interview". He did not respond when asked why he was there.
