Trump to snub Pelosi if Democrats win House

It remains to be seen whether two years of only modest reforms will depress enthusiasm for Trump's re-election, or motivate 2020 voters to deliver him a majority he can work with in a second term. Fox and NBC television networks called the result in the US House of Representatives, while confirming expectations that Trump´s Republicans will retain control of the Senate.

And keeping hold of the Senate is especially important for Trump since it will give the White House the chance to press on with one of his major legacy-building initiatives, restocking the federal judiciary with conservatives.

"Lavrov also reiterated Moscow's position that it is not meddling in USA elections".

"We will have a responsibility to find our common ground where we can, stand our ground where we can't", Pelosi said. The president, in an earlier tweet, weighed in on the midterm results, overlooking the Democratic pickups in the House and writing: "Tremendous success tonight". Republicans flipped several Senate seats on Tuesday, with wins by Josh Hawley over Sen.

Tuesday's result was a bitter outcome for Trump, a 72-year-old former reality TV star who campaigned for fellow Republicans on increasingly hostile anti-immigrant rhetoric and was accused of inciting violence in recent weeks.

History was working against the president in both the House and the Senate: The president's party has traditionally suffered deep losses in his first midterm election, and 2002 was the only midterm election in the past three decades when the party holding the White House gained Senate seats.

All 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 out of the 100 seats in the Senate are up for grabs.

The party were most optimistic about the House, a sprawling battlefield set largely in America's suburbs where more educated and affluent voters in both parties have soured on Mr Trump's turbulent presidency, despite the strength of the national economy.

Political action committees and outside groups spent more than $11 million on races for the state Senate, including more than $6 million on campaigns for just four seats, The New York Times reported on Monday.

Republicans paved their path to victory by defeating Democrats Joe Donnelly of IN and Heidi Heitkamp of North Dakota.

While in Florida, young Democrat candidate Andrew Gillum was unable to turn the state blue. In HD-23, Democrat incumbent Chris Kennedy has earned 61.68 percent of the vote, while Republican Joan Poston has tallied 38.32 percent. Democrats also captured governorships in MI and IL.

Moore didn't comment in the jockeys room after the race. "(They are) insane conditions. "I am just so delighted. Cross Counter's historic victory was described by his British trainer, Charlie Appleby, as "everybody's dream".

Democrats needed to pick up two dozen seats to seize the House majority and two seats to control the Senate. Still, Republican voters tended to be overwhelmingly supportive of the president.

With Democrats now poised to take control of the House, Mr. Cummings will likely be in a position as chairman to issue those subpoenas on his own.

In Arizona, where Democrat Kyrsten Sinema and Republican Martha McSally are locked in a dead heat, Trump's approval is 52%, with 47% who disapprove.

A record number of candidates identifying as "LGBT" ran for office this election cycle, and several of them will soon take office.

Republicans held on to the upper chamber with key victories in Indiana, Texas and North Dakota.

The loss of power will test Trump's political hold on House Republicans, most of whom had pledged their support for him lest they face the wrath of the party's core supporters, who remain in his corner. Senate Republicans are projected to maintain and perhaps expand their majority.

It was a ballot packed with amendments, special questions, a governor race and house and state senate races, but now election results are beginning to trickle in.

As more and more GOP seats look vulnerable, Republicans fear that their House majority might be eliminated on Election Day.

Investors often favor Washington gridlock because it preserves the status quo and reduces uncertainty, even though many investors this time around had been hoping for a continuation of the Republican agenda.

"I am extremely happy with the economy", Gerlock said as he cast his ballot in Chicago.
