Samantha Bee Defends Jim Acosta: We Should Be 'Ashamed' of Trump

On Twitter, Acosta responded to Sanders' statement with a simple declaration, tweeting: "This is a lie". CNN also gave a staunch defence of its reporter, accusing the White House official of giving "fraudulent accusations" and citing "an incident that never happened". This unprecedented decision is a threat to our democracy and the country deserves better. "I'm sick of him being the story, I'm sick of talking about Jim Acosta", she said. President Trump has given the press more access than any President in history.

Acosta was asked by an agent of the US Secret Service for his accreditation after leaving the presidential building, according to a video of the moment shared by the journalist on Twitter.

U.S. President Donald Trump stops CNN's Jim Acosta while taking questions during a news conference following Tuesday's midterm congressional elections at the White House in Washington, US, November 7, 2018. Despite his "Pardon me, ma'am", he used force to physically overpower her so he could continue talking after the president had called on another reporter.

Acosta had been questioning Trump about his claim that a caravan of migrants posed a threat to the USA when the President turned on the journalist.

The president clashed with Acosta after a series of questions about the migrant caravan, but the conversation became personal in a hurry.

"Well I'm not a big fan of yours either", Trump said.

Stirewalt said that either way, the episode hurts the political discourse as the Acosta-Trump feud overshadowed "a bunch of good questions" from reporters like Fox News' John Roberts and CBS News' Major Garrett.

But not satisfied with his response, Acosta attempted to ask another question about the investigation into Trump's alleged links with Russian Federation. "I think you should let me run the country, you run CNN", said Trump. It's a very awful thing that you said". The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting, and the way you treat other people is frightful. "To be honest. You aren't the best", he hit back. "You shouldn't treat people that way".

Alexander came to his colleague's defense. "He's a diligent reporter who busts his butt like the rest of us". Now he appears to be retaliating against a reporter for asking tough questions of his administration by denying him access.

Bell, 26, hasn't played in a single game this season after he was hit with the franchise tag for the second year in a row. Le'Veon Bell has still not reported to the Steelers to sign his franchise tender for the 2018 season.

Trump told Acosta to sit down and demanded someone take away his microphone. Trump repeatedly said "That's enough". CNN has been most closely associated with the "fake news" slur, which the president has used constantly to undermine public confidence in the media.

"They are not only unsafe, they are disturbingly un-American", CNN said.

CNN said Wednesday night that Acosta's suspension "was done in retaliation for his challenging questions at today's press conference" and claimed Sanders "lied" in her explanation of what unraveled. "We stand by our statement".

The White House sought to brush aside suggestions it is stifling a free press. "The White House must cease its continuous assault on the First Amendment".

The decision comes after a tense standoff between Acosta and President Donald Trump during a press conference on Wednesday.

"This President's ongoing attacks on the press have gone too far".

During the news conference, Trump also turned on reporter Yamiche Alcindor of PBS' "NewsHour". "You have nationalists. You have globalists".

Alcindor had asked the President if his use of the word "nationalism" at several rallies was meant to embolden "white nationalism".

"Such a racist question", Trump complained, adding that he found it "insulting".
