Ruth Bader Ginsburg hospitalized after fall in her office

On Wednesday night, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg fell, cracking three ribs and getting rushed to the hospital, the Associated Press reported. But she felt discomfort overnight and made a decision to go to the hospital early Thursday morning - where she has been admitted for observation and treatment. In February 2009, she underwent surgery for pancreatic cancer and returned to the bench later that very month.

Tests showed that she had fractured three ribs on her left side and she has been admitted for observation and treatment.

Ginsburg has had a series of health problems. She previously had two bouts with cancer and had a stent placed to open a blocked artery in 2014. President Trump is among the dignitaries planning to attend the ceremony at the court. She was the second woman to ever be confirmed to the Supreme Court, after retired Justice Sandra Day O'Connor.

Rib fractures are common among older adults, particularly after falls.

Breaking Bad movie in the works - but maybe without Walter White
Gilligan told Entertainment Weekly he'd love to see a reunion of the characters Walter White (Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Paul). Breaking Bad , the AMC drama that ended its hugely successful run in 2013, is now reportedly said to be getting a feature film.

Ginsburg, who was appointed by president Bill Clinton in 1993, is one of four liberal justices on the nine-member court.

It means Ms Ginsburg will not be present for Thursday's investiture of new Supreme Court judge Brett Kavanaugh, whose appointment led to protests following allegations of sexual misconduct.

She already has hired clerks for the term that extends into 2020, indicating she has no plans to retire.
