Nintendo to remove Native American depiction from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Nintendo today revealed it was removing a certain move from the latest Smash Bros game, apparently not realizing it was more than a little racist. The same design was also seen in a separate Spirit character featured in the game as well. One of the moves references a game from 1982 which was titled, Fire Attack.

Ultimate is at risk of offending some people, but Nintendo is taking steps to fix it before the game's December 7 launch.

"Nintendo has been planning to distribute an update for Super Smash Bros". Ultimate Japanese live-stream that aired following a recent Nintendo Direct, Mr. Ultimate an experience that is both welcoming and fun for everyone.

Some were quick to say that Nintendo "shouldn't have caved" but it is important to note that they felt this change was deserving back when it first re-released on the Game Boy. After someone pointed it out, Nintendo quickly redesigned the character with purple skin to try and lessen the similarity.
