Mass Shooting Reported At Borderline Bar & Grill In Thousand Oaks, California

The gunman is still on the loose, reported ABC7 Eyewitness News, which showed images of the Borderline Bar and Grill, in Thousand Oaks, California, surrounded by dozens of police vehicles.

Police officers were called to Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks at around 11:20 p.m., The Ventura County Star reported.

Witnesses told The LA Times someone ran into the bar about 11.30pm, United States time, and started firing what appeared to be a black pistol.

United States fire department officials have reported multiple injuries in a shooting at a bar and dance hall in southern California.

Captain Garo Kuredijian, of the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, said at least six people, including one officer, have been injured.

He said the man set off smoke grenades inside before opening fire.

A trail of blood was visible on the street at the entrance of the venue.

Police have described it as a "mass casualty incident" and helicopters are swirling overhead.

He told reporters: "When our deputies arrive on the scene they attempted to neutralise that threat, I can't tell you if it was neutralised or not".

The extent of the victim's injuries has not yet been released.

Authorities urged the public to avoid the area.

'He threw in smoke bombs and he kept firing.

Victims rant to a nearby petrol station to get medical help. An event aimed at university students was scheduled to take place this evening.
