Bryce Harper turned down 10-year, $300M offer from Nats

The biggest free agent deal in U.S. pro sports history by total value was the 10-year, $275 million dollar contract given to Alex Rodriguez by the New York Yankees in 2007.

Bryce Harper #34 of the Washington Nationals in the dugout before the game against the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park on July 26, 2018 in Miami, Florida.

Boras represents Harper and not Machado, and you can probably guess which one he thinks is the true.

So where does that leave Harper and the Nationals now? The sides could still strike a deal later in the offseason.

It's hard to find an executive, scout, or rival agent who doesn't believe that Harper will eventually sign with the Phillies, maybe a month from now when he can drive from his Las Vegas home to Mandalay Bay and make the official announcement himself.

Moore didn't comment in the jockeys room after the race. "(They are) insane conditions. "I am just so delighted. Cross Counter's historic victory was described by his British trainer, Charlie Appleby, as "everybody's dream".

In a conversation with The Post, Boras said in Harper's time with the Nationals, the club's value climbed more than four times, attendance increased by 600,000 and TV ratings tripled, and that his client had a substantial hand in those rises.

Mike Rizzo discussed the team's talks with agent Scott Boras at the general managers' meetings on Tuesday.

If Harper signs elsewhere, the Nationals' outfield next season will consist of Juan Soto in left field, Victor Robles in centre and Adam Eaton in right field, with former Gold Glove finalist Michael A. Taylor as a back-up in centre. It will cost them roughly $13 million.

"I'm comfortable with the alternative [to signing Harper]", Rizzo said. "But I'm uncomfortable with the statement that we're a better team without him". For the moment, it seems he and Boras will explore options elsewhere.

Thought the offer was $100 million short, there were no hard feelings between Harper and the team. Max Scherzer got exactly $US30 million. It was not enough.
