Tallahassee Mayor Gillum, Republican former Rep. DeSantis cast votes

"I still plan to be on the front lines alongside every one of you when it comes to standing up and fighting for what we believe in".

But DeSantis, who stepped down from his Northeast Florida congressional seat in September, said "a lot of our super voters have yet to vote", referring to loyal Republicans who have voted in the last three or four elections. Attacking Gillum during an appearance on Fox News, DeSantis, referring to successes in Florida achieved by Scott, said "the last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases, and bankrupting the state". DeSantis also repeatedly referenced Gillum's support for Medicaid expansion, and in the primary, his support for Bernie Sanders-endorsed Medicare for All. Gillum's campaign asserted that Gillum believed the tickets were reserved for him, but that he thought his brother paid for them.

DeSantis, who attended Yale University and Harvard Law School, resigned his seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in September to focus exclusively on his gubernatorial bid.

He, too, said that DeSantis' victory was best foreshadowed by his debate performances against Gillum, especially when the two sparred on economic issues and DeSantis' low-tax platform was side-by-side with Gillum's proposals. Recent surveys for the Florida race, which is one of Real Clear Politics' 12 "toss-up" gubernatorial races, have all given Gillum the edge.

DeSantis might not have even made it to the general election without Trump's very early endorsement.

The gubernatorial race was a study in contrasts: a straight-talking, unapologetically progressive, black nominee running against a Tea Party figure who released a campaign ad in which his young children built Trump's fabled border wall out of toy bricks.

DeSantis argued throughout the campaign that Florida's relationship with the president - whether he or she agrees with his policies or not- is important for the state.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain was also present during the meeting. The typo reportedly remained onscreen for a good 20 seconds or so before it was rectified.

With a crowd of supporters cheering him on, Andrew Gillum cast his ballot for governor of Florida this morning at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Tallahassee, FL. Trump joined in, tweeting similar messages.

After Wiles' arrival, DeSantis began to claw his way back up in the polls, though he never fully did until the final outcome told a different story.

Separate from the FBI investigation, Gillum was criticized for a 2016 interaction with an undercover FBI agent.

Gillum conceded at 11 he spoke to supporters gathered at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee.

Gillum is linked to an ongoing Federal Bureau of Investigation probe and accepted a Hamilton ticket, worth hundreds of dollars, from an undercover agent.

The big question is where the non-counted votes come from.
