Bears predictions: Week 9 vs. Bills

Bears predictions: Week 9 vs. Bills

What was forgotten, though, and what the Bears served up a startlingly loud reminder of Sunday with their 41-9 thrashing of the Bills in Buffalo is that Chicago was a really good defense a year ago - 10th in total defense, 9th in points allowed and 6th in sack percentage - well before Nagy and Mack were even a glean in Pace's eye.

Peterman threw three interceptions in his first start since a 47-3 season-opening loss at Baltimore.

The Bills (2-6) said Saturday that Anderson and rookie linebacker Tremaine Edmunds have not cleared concussion protocol. Inside linebackers, Roquan Smith and Danny Trevathan will be vital in employing this scheme. But other than that, the Bears' defense shut down a Bills team that, while severely sub-optimal, did manage to beat the Minnesota Vikings on the road and gave the Green Bay Packers' offense some problems this year, too. Floyd didn't generate a sack, but he did play his best 2018 game, including a pick-six, tackle for loss, QB hit and sound and consistent play against the run and pass.

On a day the defense dominated, the Bears offense converted 3 of 11 third downs, a rate of 27 percent, and averaged 4.1 yards per play, both their worst of the year.

Newly signed receiver Terrelle Pryor caught Peterman's pass and lost control as he turned up field, with the ball landing in defensive back Adrian Amos' hands.

Massive search launched for 79 school children kidnapped in Cameroon
Around a fifth of Cameroon's 22 million people are English-speaking - a minority whose presence dates back to the colonial period. The children say they were kidnapped late on Sunday (local time) by the armed men and they don't know where they are being held.

The Bills have been outscored 103-20 since, and 157-46 in their past six, during which Buffalo has scored just three touchdowns.

Coach Sean McDermott responded defiantly when asked if the Bills have enough talent on offense to compete. Vic Fangio's defense could utilize eight-man fronts to limit the rushing yards forcing the Buffalo's passing game into long down situations.

I really liked Peterman coming out of Pitt, and he may still be a good quarterback some day, but the only current evidence we have of his National Football League abilities are his four interceptions in 32 attempts this season, nine picks on 81 career attempts, and career 31.4 passer rating. McCoy, who declined interview requests this week, was spotted exiting the locker room before reporters were allowed to enter.

Ball security: We're picking nits, but Trubisky was unable to stack turnover-free games for the first time this season.

Bears: Host Detroit on Sunday in the first of three straight against NFC North rivals.
