Fox News releases statement on Sean Hannity’s appearance at a Trump rally

Fox News didnt say if he faced consequences for the transgression.

But in my worst fears about what that would look like and how it might affect our democracy, I never thought I would see what I did Monday night on Fox News, starting with the propaganda performance of Sean Hannity.

Trump's midterm efforts will not stop with his Missouri rally on Monday night. He explained that he was hosting his show live from the event and would interview Trump. The president urged supports to "pretend" he was on the ballot.

Though President Donald Trump was technically stumping for Republican senatorial candidate Josh Hawley, it was crystal clear to everyone in that arena and everyone watching the final rally that Tuesday's midterm elections are largely a referendum on the man at the podium.

"By the way, all those people in the back are fake news", Hannity said, referencing the pen for the press pool that also included Fox News journalists.

One Fox News employee described to CNN Business the scene at the NY headquarters of Fox News at the time, as a number of journalists inside the company's news division watched the episode unfold live.

"They're hiding their agenda from the American people", he said. In 2016, he was part of a Trump political video, which Fox said it had not known about in advance and told Hannity not to do so again.

In October, Fox said Hannitys show was the most-watched cable-news program for the seventh consecutive month.

When it was done, White House Communications director Bill Shine, a former Fox News Channel executive, high-fived Hannity, according to the White House pool report. He described them as "livid".

But the network statement issued Tuesday did not explain how it was addressed.

Goals from Vinicius Junior and Sergio Ramos were enough to give Real Madrid a hard fought 2-0 win over a stern Real Valladolid side.

Hannity has been rebuked by Fox in the past.

Earlier yesterday, Hannity tweeted, "To be clear, I will not be on stage campaigning with the President". This was NOT planned.

New claim: 'When POTUS invited me on stage to give remarks last night, I was surprised, yet honored by the president's request. "They do fantastic work day in and day out in a fair and balanced way and it is an honor to work with such great professionals".

Hannity has for years flouted the usual standards required of Fox News employees.

"FOX News does not condone any talent participating in campaign events", a statement from the network read.

In an election-eve interview, Trump struck a gentler tone by telling Sinclair Broadcasting he regretted some of his caustic campaign rhetoric.

While Hannity has been able to get away with breaking normal protocol, the network had previously attempted to reign him in.

Trump, however, did call Hannity to the stage.

A Fox spokesperson denied giving Mr Hannity approval to speak at the rally. "It's all fragile. We have to go out and we have to vote", the president said on a conference call, per Politico.
